What’s With the Full Moon and Parasite Cleansing?
Full moon is a traditional time for parasite cleansing that most natural healers recommend as having the best effect. There are lots of reasons and rationale, mostly having to do with parasite’s activity levels during lunar phases. Most instructions vary anywhere from an 11 day period to just a couple days on either side of the full moon.
While the scientific basis for this practice is still debated, there are several theories and explanations—both physiological and esoteric—that proponents cite as reasons why cleansing may be more effective during this lunar phase.
Physiological Factors
Increased Parasite Activity: Some practitioners believe that parasites are more active during a full moon. It's suggested that the gravitational pull of the moon affects the bodily fluids, including those in the gastrointestinal tract. You have your own tidal system going on. This might cause parasites to become more mobile and active, making them easier to target and eliminate through cleansing protocols. If you have parasites in some weird region of the body, and the moon can get them to move down into the intestinal tract temporarily to breed, your chances of killing them with an herbal cleanse increases. Keep in mind, Parasite Assassin is not a traditional cleanse and is not limited to the digestive tract. It goes anywhere that you have cells containing water.
Melatonin and Serotonin Levels: The full moon is thought to influence the body's production of melatonin and serotonin. Melatonin, which has anti-parasitic properties, may decrease during the full moon, while serotonin, which parasites thrive on, may increase. Getting less sleep combined with parasites messing with your neurotransmitters is part of that “full moon craziness” that people report. This imbalance could cause parasites to be more active and vulnerable to treatments, while at the same time makes you more vulnerable to infestation.
Liver and Detoxification: The liver is often at the center of detox practices. The full moon is believed to stimulate the liver's function due to the body's natural rhythms. An enhanced detoxification process could mean that the body is better able to flush out parasites and toxins during this time.
Esoteric and Traditional Beliefs
Lunar Energy and its Effects: Traditional beliefs suggest that the full moon enhances energy levels and spiritual vibrations. This heightened energy is thought to aid in cleansing and detoxification, allowing the body to release parasites more effectively. Some believe that the full moon's light penetrates deeply, reaching areas where parasites may hide, thus weakening them.
Cyclical Nature of the Moon: Many holistic health practices are aligned with the moon's phases, which have been associated with natural rhythms and cycles in various cultures for centuries. The full moon is often seen as a time of completion and release, making it an optimal time for cleansing rituals.
Ancient Practices: Historical texts and ancient traditions often align health practices with the lunar cycle. In Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine, for example, the full moon is seen as a powerful time for both spiritual and physical cleansing. The belief is that the body’s natural rhythms are in tune with the moon, making detoxification more effective.
Case Studies and Anecdotal Evidence
Personal Experiences: Many practitioners report better results from parasite cleanses conducted during the full moon. Testimonials often include stories of more thorough cleansing, greater energy, and improved digestion following full moon cleanses. While these accounts are anecdotal, they contribute to the popularity of this practice.
Community Practices: In communities where natural health practices are prevalent, full moon cleansing rituals are common. These group activities often include fasting, herbal supplements, and meditation, all designed to support the body’s natural detoxification processes.
Freedom Flower’s Stance on This
We say it can’t hurt. While it’s not necessary to use the full moon to reach all the parasites since frequencies aren’t limited by body parts, biofilm, etc, if there is a subtle reason moon time is slightly better than other times, why not use it?
There are flower essences in Parasite Assassin that can mitigate some of the agitation, anxiety and mood swings that may come with increased activity during the full moon.
For you starting a cleanse, there is no time as good as the present. Jump in as soon as you’re ready, which might mean at the beginning of your weekend to see how you’re going to feel. We like to time ongoing maintenance with the moon because it’s easy to remember, but you could just as well use whatever part of the month works for you.
