1. The One Thing You Must Understand First

If you take one thing from this entire guide, let it be this:

Flower essences are frequency-based, not substance-based.

They are not herbal tinctures. They are not essential oils. You are not trying to get a certain number of milligrams into your bloodstream. You are introducing a vibrational frequency to the water in your body. Once you understand that, everything else about dosage makes sense.

This means:

  • Water doesn't dilute the essence. Water extends it. Every sip of a dosed drink is a fresh dose. That's why we tell you to put it in your beverages and sip throughout the day.
  • More drops at once does NOT equal more power. Taking a whole dropper full is not stronger than 4 drops. You amplify the effect by taking it more often, not by taking more at once.
  • Size of the container doesn't matter. Your coffee cup gets 4 drops. Your 64oz work thermos gets 4 drops. Your chihuahua and your Great Dane both get 4 drops. Your toddler and your 250lb husband both get 4 drops. The frequency either IS in the water, or it isn't.
  • Putting it under your tongue is not "better." We're not aiming for your bloodstream. We're aiming for the water in your body, and your body is roughly 70% water. Dropping essences straight in the mouth, applying them externally, putting them in beverages — they all work. But sipping a dosed beverage throughout the day gives you the most consistent frequency exposure, which is why it's our #1 recommendation.

Please allow your brain to break here for a moment. This is not hard, but your preconceived ideas about how medicine and supplements work will make it feel that way. Essences are not tinctures. Once you stop trying to force them into that box, the dosage instructions become almost stupidly simple.

2. Basic Dosage: The 4-Drop Rule

4 drops in any beverage, as desired throughout the day.

That's it. That's the whole thing. But since this is the #1 question we get, let's unpack it thoroughly:

"4 drops" means drops from the dropper — not droppers full. These are not tinctures.

"In any beverage" means whatever you're drinking. Water, coffee, tea, juice, lemonade, beer. All of these are water-based. The essence transfers its frequency to the water in whatever you're drinking.

"As desired throughout the day" means: put 4 drops in whatever you're drinking, and every sip counts as a dose. You can re-dose each new drink you make, or you can put 4 drops in a pitcher or large water bottle and sip from that all day. Either way works. The goal is consistent frequency exposure throughout the day, not hitting some daily drop count.

Common Dosage Myths (All Wrong)

Myth

Reality

"Water dilutes the essence"

Water extends it. Every sip = a dose.

"I need more drops for a bigger container"

Nope. 4 drops in a coffee cup. 4 drops in a 64oz jug. Same.

"A dropper full under the tongue is stronger"

It isn't. You amplify by taking more often, not more at once.

"16 drops once a day equals 4 drops 4 times"

No. Frequency throughout the day matters. One big dose doesn't do it.

"Kids/small pets need a smaller dose"

Same dose for everyone. Weight does not affect essence dosing.

"I can take as many different blends as I want"

Not recommended. See Section 4.

The Easiest Way to Do This

Pre-dose your drinks. Put 4 drops in your morning water bottle, your afternoon tea, your evening whatever. You can dose a whole pitcher if you want. Then you don't have to remember anything — you're just... drinking. Every sip is doing its job.

If others share your pitcher, that's fine — as long as they aren't taking their own essences (that would break the one-blend-at-a-time guideline) and they don't have objections to taking yours.

About Our Labels

If you have a bottle with our old label, it says "4 drops 4 times a day." Our recommendation hasn't changed — we just updated the language. That old phrasing made people think they needed exactly 16 drops in a day, which isn't the point. The point always was: get it into your system multiple times throughout the day. Somehow, no matter how we phrase things, people will always interpret what we didn't say.

Our current labels also feature little flower icons with a number — that's how many individual flower essences are in that blend. This is handy if you're wondering about combining blends (see Section 4).

3. Six Ways to Take Your Essences

Method 1: In Your Beverage (Recommended)

This is our #1 recommendation because it's easy, effective, and piggybacks on something you already do — drinking. 4 drops in whatever you've got. Each sip is a dose. Pre-dose your drinks so you don't have to think about it.

In most drinks, the taste is imperceptible. In plain water, you might notice a slight flavor — most people say it actually improves the taste.

Method 2: Externally / Topically

For those who would rather not ingest essences. Dab on pulse points, acupressure sites, places of tension or injury. Add to bathwater. Shake into your shampoo or liquid soap bottle.

Just remember to reapply frequently — most people don't reapply as often as they sip a drink, which is why we rank this below beverages for effectiveness.

Some people also use this method strategically. Crisis Care on a burn or bee sting. Align in bathwater. There are times when external use is exactly the right call.

Method 3: Straight Drops in the Mouth

Open up and drop some in. Quick and easy if you're on the go. It doesn't work faster, or better (actually worse) but if it's less hassle in the moment, go for it.

Interestingly, this can actually be a way to scale back if you're very sensitive. Because you're getting it done in one shot instead of each sip being a dose, you're actually getting less overall frequency exposure. Useful to know.

Method 4: In Your Diffuser

If you have the kind of electric diffuser that uses water, you can add a few drops of essence. The frequency charges the water, contributing to the moisture in the air you breathe. Consider this supplemental — don't rely on it as your only method.

Method 5: In Your CPAP Machine

Add a few drops to your jug of distilled water. You'll inhale essences all night. Particularly suited to Peaceful Sleep, Dream Drops, and 713 Deep Restoration. Don't overdo it — 4 drops in your gallon fill jug is adequate. Take care of your equipment.

Method 6: In Your Humidifier

Same idea as the CPAP and diffuser. Don't rely on this exclusively, and don't overdo it with your machines.

For Pets

All of the above apply. Add essences to their water bowl, wet food, or apply to less furry parts of their body. Same 4-drop dosage regardless of species or size.

4. Can I Take More Than One Blend?

This is the #1 question we get. The short answer: We recommend one blend at a time.

Think of it like music. A single flower essence is a single note on a piano. A Bouquet Blend is a chord — fuller, richer, purposeful. But if you try to play chords in several different keys at the same time, it's just noise. You wouldn't play three songs at once and expect a beautiful experience. Same principle applies here.

Here's what happens when you ignore this:

  • System confusion. Multiple blends can create conflicting energetic patterns. Your body doesn't know what to prioritize.
  • Healing crisis risk. More blends = more essences hitting your system at once. This dramatically increases the chance of overwhelm.
  • Diminishing returns. You may get less total effect from two blends than you would from one. Things can cancel each other out.

We cap our Bouquet Blends at 7 individual essences each, and we do that for good reason. Taking two blends means 12-14 individual essences hitting your system simultaneously. That's a lot of frequencies at once.

The Quick Math (Check Your Labels)

Our newer labels have little flower icons with a number on them — that number tells you how many individual flower essences are in that blend. If you're tempted to use two blends together, add those numbers. If the total is 7 or higher, don't do it. You're overloading the chord. If both are small enough to stay under 7 combined, you have more room — but the one-at-a-time guideline still applies for most people.

But I Really Want To...

We know. Everyone does. Here's the nuanced version:

If you're brand new to essences: No. Stick with one blend. Learn what it feels like when it works. Learn your sensitivity level. Get a good result first. Then you can experiment.

If you're experienced and feel essences quickly: You might be able to spread two blends across your day — something like M&M in the morning and Peaceful Sleep in the evening. But this only works if:

  1. You're sensitive and feel effects quickly (not someone who takes weeks to notice anything)
  2. You've already gotten a good result on one blend and know what that feels like
  3. You understand that if things go sideways, you stop both and regroup

If you take weeks to notice effects: Alternating blends throughout the day or day-by-day is not going to work for you. You need that sustained, consistent frequency exposure.

If you're torn between several blends: This is actually a strong signal that you need a Custom Combo. We can pull the 7 most applicable individual essences from across those blends (or use others that are more targeted) and put them in one bottle. One blend, one set of frequencies, working together instead of against each other.

If you email us asking to mix blends, we're going to send you to this section. We want you to get real results, not chase the same issues around the barnyard.

The Daily Switching Problem

Switching essences daily — "this one Monday, that one Tuesday" — sounds flexible but undermines everything. Childhood wounds don't clear up in one day. Even surface-level issues usually need a few consistent days to move. If you're bouncing around, nothing gets enough traction to stick.

This can also be a form of subconscious avoidance. If you keep switching, you never have to sit with anything long enough for it to actually work.

5. How Long Should I Stay on an Essence?

It depends — but we have a rule of thumb.

One month on an essence for every year you've lived with the problem.

If you've been dealing with anxiety since you were a kid and you're 30, that's a long-standing pattern. A couple weeks isn't going to permanently rewire it. If you just got stressed from a rough week at work, that's a surface-level mood — it might shift in days.

The Key Variables

  • How sensitive are you? Do you feel a shift right away, or does it take a couple weeks of consistent use before you notice anything? Both are normal, but your timeline will be different.
  • How deep is the issue? You can change a mood in a minute. Deeply ingrained childhood patterns? That's months. There's a spectrum.
  • Change vs. transformation. You might feel better quickly. That's change. Transformation — where the old pattern actually loses its grip and you respond differently to the same triggers — takes time.

How to Know If You Stopped Too Soon

If symptoms return when you go off the essence, and only disappear when you're back on it, you probably didn't address the roots. You were managing symptoms. That's not necessarily bad (sometimes that's what you need right now), but it's not a permanent fix.

The Neural Pathway Metaphor

Imagine running through a forest. You'll naturally take the well-worn trail — the path of least resistance. Our brains work the same way. Negative patterns are trails we've walked thousands of times. They're easy to follow, even when we know they lead somewhere bad.

Flower essences help you blaze a new trail. They give you extra momentum to go in a different direction. But a trail you've walked once is still covered in brush. You need repetition — taking that new path over and over — until it becomes the easy route. The longer you've used the old path, the more support you need to establish the new one.

That's why you stay on an essence. Not because it's a drug you're dependent on, but because you're building a new neural pathway and the old one needs time to grow over.

Surface Blends vs. Deep-Work Blends

  • Day-to-day helpers: M&M, Focus, Peaceful Sleep, Ignite. They do contain essences that work deeply, but their primary job is helping you function.
  • Root-level work: Fragment Finder, Heart Healer, Confidence, Broken to Whole Kit, Custom Combos. These go after the foundations.

Both are valid. Not everyone is ready for deep work, and that's fine. But know which lane you're in, because it affects how long you need to stay on.

6. Balancing Deep Healing With Daily Life

So you've decided you need to be on a deep healing essence for months. But life keeps happening. You're stressed. You need focus. You need sleep. And you can only take one blend at a time. What do you do?

The "Home Base" Approach

Your deep healing essence is your home base — the one you always come back to when nothing crazy is going on. If life throws a curveball (and it will), it's perfectly fine to temporarily switch to something that helps you cope with the immediate crisis. Once things settle, you go back to your home base.

Your childhood stuff has waited this long. It can wait a few more days while you survive a rough week at work.

The Advanced Workaround (For Experienced Users)

If you're comfortable working with individual stock-strength essences, you can build two mini-blends:

  1. Your deep-healing blend (2-4 individual essences addressing your core issue) — this is your semi-permanent daily thing.
  2. Your daily-life blend (2-4 individual essences for motivation, focus, stress, etc.) — these can rotate in and out depending on what's happening.

This keeps your total individual essence count manageable while letting you address both layers. It's more upfront work and expense, but if you're in it for the long haul, it's an investment in always having a custom blend on hand.

If you want to learn to do this, we have a DIY Essence Blending class.

When NOT to Start Deep Work

  • Starting a new job
  • Already overly stressed
  • Mission-critical life events
  • Any time where a healing crisis would be really inconvenient

Deep healing work has the highest potential for a healing crisis, especially in the first couple weeks. Pick your timing wisely. Once you're through the initial adjustment, it's usually smooth sailing and just a matter of follow-through.

7. Scaling Your Dosage Up or Down

Remember: you can't scale by adding more drops. You scale by adjusting frequency of exposure.

Scaling UP (Want stronger/faster results)

  • Put 4 drops in every drink you have throughout the day
  • Pre-dose a large water bottle and sip constantly
  • The more often the frequency contacts the water in your body, the more reinforcement it gets

Scaling DOWN (Too intense, or very sensitive)

  • Put 4 drops straight in your mouth and move on with your day (one-and-done exposure instead of all-day sipping)
  • Sip from a dosed beverage less frequently
  • Take a day or two off and restart
  • Do NOT try to "dilute" by putting fewer drops in — the frequency is either there or it isn't

Putting fewer drops in doesn't dilute the frequency. It's binary — the pattern is present or it's not. The way to get less is to expose yourself less often, not to try to make each exposure weaker.

Sarah's Story

"I first took two drops in a bottle of water and the effects on me were so powerful I dialed it back to one drop. Even then I could feel the movement and shifts going a bit too fast for me. After a few days of this, I decided to do the alternative of a few drops right down the hatch. This worked fabulously! I was able to increase it to my full dosage very quickly and feel the powerful yet comforting effects."

She found her sweet spot by experimenting. You'll find yours too.

8. Healing Crises: When It Works Too Well

A healing crisis means the treatment is working — just a little too aggressively. It's like a physical cleanse where you overdo it and feel terrible. Same thing, except you're cleaning out old emotional patterns instead of physical toxins.

Good news: about 95% of people never experience a healing crisis with essences. This is not something you need to be watching for. You just need to be aware it exists so you don't get blindsided if it happens.

What It Feels Like

Moodiness. Crying. Disturbing dreams. Social withdrawal. Old memories surfacing. Physical symptoms (especially stomach, digestive, or headaches). Inability to focus because you're processing something.

Because emotions and the body are so closely connected, emotional detoxing can cause physical shifts. But remember — on a physical level, essences are two ingredients: brandy and water. If you don't have a problem with either of those, you are not having a physical reaction to the essence itself.

(The exception: our dropper tops contain latex. If you have a latex allergy, you can request a flat cap lid in your order notes at checkout.)

Who's Most Likely to Experience One?

People who have blocked things out or have been coping in detrimental ways. Essences tend to make you face things you've been avoiding. If something is standing in the way of your healing and you've been suppressing or ignoring it, essences will have you facing it.

The 4-Step Protocol

  1. Stop taking the essence. If symptoms don't subside after stopping, it wasn't the essence causing them — look for other medical causes. A healing crisis presents as mild discomfort, never intense enough to warrant emergency medical attention. If your symptoms are that severe, seek medical care.
  2. Process what's coming up. A healing crisis is emotional material surfacing — old hurts, suppressed feelings, things you've been avoiding. It needs to be processed, not just waited out. Talk to a friend you trust. Call your therapist. Pray. Journal. Sit with it intentionally. The feelings are coming up because they need somewhere to go — give them an exit.
  3. Start back slowly. If symptoms did subside when you stopped, try again with a single drop straight in your mouth. Wait and observe. If that goes well, move to 4 drops in a beverage but only take a few sips. If that goes well, increase to sipping throughout the day. You're in charge of the pace.
  4. Switch if needed. Sometimes an essence is the right one but the wrong time. You may need to work on something else first to build up your capacity. Crisis Care is an excellent companion for riding out a healing crisis if you have it on hand.

Bioessences: A Different Kind of Reaction

Everything above applies to bioessences too — they often contain flower essences, so the emotional healing crisis is still on the table. But bioessences add another layer, because they also carry frequencies that target physical things: parasites, mold, toxins, pathogens. When those frequencies do their job, you can get detox and die-off reactions on top of the emotional stuff.

What bioessence reactions can look like:

  • Classic herx/die-off symptoms: fatigue, headaches, brain fog, body aches, digestive upset
  • Skin breakouts or rashes as your body pushes things out
  • Feeling worse before you feel better — especially in the first week or two
  • Intensified versions of symptoms you already had

How to handle bioessence reactions:

  • Scale back frequency — same as with flower essences. Fewer sips, not fewer drops.
  • Support your detox pathways — Detox Drops, binders if needed, and giving your body time to process between rounds.
  • Rule out other causes — just like with flower essences, don't assume everything you experience is a reaction to the essence. If something feels really wrong, get it checked out.

Generally, the sicker you are or the more compromised your system is, the slower you need to go. There's no prize for speed. The essences aren't going anywhere, and neither are you.

If you purchased a Parasite Assassin product, you received the Clean Sweep ebook and a series of emails walking you through the protocol — cycling between PA1, PA2, and PA3, timing, breaks, binders, and Detox Drops. Read them. The information is there. If you can't find your ebook, look in your store account for the download.

9. What if I Chose the Wrong Essence?

Nothing happens.

If the essence isn't what you need, it means you're already in tune in that area and you missed what's really needed. For flower essences, it's just a waste of money. For destructive frequencies (like those targeting microorganisms in bioessences), they need their correct match to do anything. No match = no effect on you at all.

If you're reacting badly to it, it's probably the RIGHT essence at the WRONG time. A strong negative reaction is a healing crisis, meaning you hit the nail on the head, but something else needed to happen first before you could handle that gracefully. Slow down on dosage, give yourself time to regroup, or try a different approach knowing you've identified the real issue.

Don't be afraid to try things. You're in charge and don't have to stick to any dosage regimen you don't want to. You really cannot mess this up.

Caveats:

  • Correlation does not always equal causation. If you're having an extreme reaction, don't rule out a medical issue. We don't want you skipping medical care because you assumed it was a healing crisis.
  • You can't be allergic to frequencies, but you can be allergic to the latex droppers or the brandy preservative. The amounts are minute when used properly, but reactions have happened.

Essences are really, really safe. For everyone across the board. However, some of the processes you go through (like killing parasites while your detox pathways are compromised) may need more careful thought. Think it through: What if it works? What then? What's the success contingency plan? Any time you are concerned about what order to do things in, please consider consulting with one of our practitioners

10. Storage, Shelf Life, and Practical Stuff

Shelf Life

Essences preserved in brandy keep indefinitely when stored properly. We don't put fake expiration dates on our bottles just to make you buy more.

Your essence is fine if it:

  • Looks clear
  • Smells normal (slightly brandy-like)
  • Tastes like brandy-water

Toss it if:

  • Slimy or cloudy
  • Has fuzzies or visible contamination
  • Smells off (not alcoholic)

ACV (apple cider vinegar) preserved essences have a shorter shelf life — about a year when stored properly. These are available as a special order for those who need to avoid alcohol completely.

Storage

  • Store upright (alcohol can degrade the rubber dropper if bottles are on their sides)
  • Room temperature
  • Out of direct sunlight (the colored bottles provide some protection, but don't push it)
  • Away from microwaves and other radiation sources
  • A wall shelf out of direct sun is perfectly fine — no need for a dark cabinet

Bottle Size

Our standard bottle is 1 fluid ounce at stock strength, which should last at least a month with regular use. Samples are 1 dram bottles that last about a week.

The Brandy Question

Our preservative is brandy. When you add 4 drops to a beverage, you're looking at roughly 0.017% alcohol in an 8oz drink. That's essentially undetectable. If you add vanilla to your foods or eat fruit, don't come at us.

If you need completely alcohol-free essences (for personal, medical, or professional reasons like a CDL zero-tolerance policy), you can special order any essence with an apple cider vinegar base. They're made to order and pricing reflects that, so allow a bit more processing time.

External application is another option for avoiding alcohol ingestion entirely.

Question

Answer

How many drops?

4 drops. Always 4 drops.

In what?

Any beverage. Water, coffee, tea, juice, anything.

How often?

Put drops in whatever you're drinking, sip throughout the day. Each sip = a dose.

Big container or small?

Doesn't matter. 4 drops either way.

Kids/pets/horses?

Same dose. 4 drops. Weight doesn't matter.

Can I take 2+ blends?

Not recommended. One at a time for best results.

How long do I take it?

Rule of thumb: 1 month per year you've had the issue.

What if it's too intense?

Scale back: drops straight in mouth (skip the all-day sipping), or take a day or two off.

What if nothing happens?

Give it 2-3 weeks of consistent use. Some people are subtle feelers.

What if I picked the wrong one?

Nothing bad happens. It just won't do anything.

Can I put it under my tongue?

Sure, but it's not stronger. It's actually less exposure than all-day sipping.

How do I store them?

Upright, room temp, away from the microwave. That's it.

Do they expire?

Brandy-preserved: no. ACV-preserved: about a year.

Alcohol-free option?

Yes — special order with ACV base.
